The Atlanta Hawks built off of their win Tuesday night in New Jersey by winning Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards in their Home opener at Phillips Arena.  The Hawks were in control of the game mostly throughout and they ultimately won 101-83.  So far in two games the Hawks have not trailed and have beat their opponents by a margin of 54 points between the two games.  However, it is just two games so we cannot get too excited.  There are some things that the Hawks should work on defense would be a good place to start.  The schedule only gets tougher from here as the Miami Heat roll into the ATL and the Hawks will head to Chicago to face the Bulls.

In tonight’s contest there were six Hawks in double digits.  The Hawks point leader was Joe Johnson with 18 points.  Atlanta came out firing on all cylinders as they scored the first 11 points in the game.  They did not stop there they also converted on their first five 3-point attempts.  Tracy McGrady like in Tuesday night’s game was again a solid performer Wednesday as he provided 11 points off the bench.  The Hawks were on it against the Wizards they led by as many as 23 points at one time during the game.   Another interesting game note is the fact that the Hawks out rebounded the Wizards 45-32 which is pretty sizeable margin.

The Hawks have look good so far in two games let’s hope they can keep the momentum going in this shortened season because it will be over before we know it.
